Harvey Peltz

1925 - 2012

Harvey Raymond Peltz, 87 of Rogers City,
passed away November 7, 2012 at
Otsego Memorial Hospital in Gaylord. \

He was born October 2, 1925 in Moltke Township
to Arthur and Irene (Tulgetske) Peltz.

Harvey served in the United States Navy during World War II. He earned his Degree
in Electronics from DeVry Institute in Chicago. He was employed by United State
Steel, February 22, 1952 as a communication operator for the Great Lakes Shipping
Fleet. He became a Supervisor of Operations on May 1, 1983 until his retirement in
October of 1987. He also owned City Radio and TV in Rogers City. Harvey was a
commissioner for District 7 of Rogers Township from January 1, 1983 through
January of 1990. He loved to play poker with his children, was a fan of the Detroit
Tigers, and took great pride in his yard work until he no longer could. He sat in his
garage and became the “eyes” of the neighborhood. Mr. Peltz was life member of
the VFW Post 15023, also the Rogers City Servicemen’s Club. He was a dedicated
member of St. John Lutheran Church.

Harvey is survived by:
his wife of 48 years, Loretta;
four children, Arthur (Micki) Peltz of Owosso,
Beverly (Sylvester) Krajniak of Posen,
Deanne (David) Kortman Sr. of Rogers City, and
Rich Peltz of Alpena;
five grandchildren, Kimberly Norton, David (Jessica) Kortman Jr.,
Jenny (Joe) Spigelmyre, Nicole Van Werth, and Ryan Peltz;
many great grandchildren; and
many nieces and nephews;
5 sisters, Leora Robb, Arlene (Marlin) Thomas, Dorothy (Pete) Ganske,
Elsie Simpson, Joyce (Larry) Foster.

He was preceded in death by:
parents, Irene and Arthur Peltz,
sister Marilyn Grafe,
brother, Norval;
brothers-in-law, Arthur Simpson and Jack Robb.

Friends may visit at the Beck Funeral Home Friday November 9th from 4:00 until
8:00 p.m. with a prayer service at 7:00 p.m. Visitation will continue at
St. John Lutheran Church on Saturday from 10:30 through time of funeral at
11:30 a.m. with Pastor John Schreiber officiating. Rogers City VFW Post 607 will
accord military honors during graveside services at Memorial Park Cemetery.

Memorials may be given to St. John Lutheran Church in memory of Harvey Peltz.
