Wilferd Kortman

Wilferd “Jiggs” Kortman age 80 of Rogers City passed
away July 1, 2008 in Petoskey.

He was born August 8, 1927 in Belknap Township
to Henry and Mabel (Bredow) Kortman

Wilferd served in the United States Navy
from 1946 through 1947.
On February 3, 1951 he married
Patricia Montero in Sault Ste. Marie, Michigan.
Mr. Kortman retired from U.S. Steel on
May 1, 1981 as a Ist Mate.
He was a member of St. Ignatius Catholic Church,
Knights of Columbus and V.F.W. Post #607.
Jiggs enjoyed hunting, fishing, gardening, carpenter work
and was known for his berry picking.

He is survived by:
beloved wife, Patricia
3 loving daughters, Michaele (Thomas) Bannow of Traverse City,
Susan (Jerry) Grambau of Posen, and
Laurie (Patrick) Purol of Posen
6 dear Grandchildren, Kelly Purcell,
David Bannow,
Nicole Pietsch,
Corey Hentkowski,
Sarah Purol, and
Jonathan Purol
1 brother, Marvin (Madeline) of Indiana
1 sister, Ilene (Darl) Felax of Rogers City

Preceded by:
4 brothers and 3 sisters

Friends may visit at the Beck Funeral Home on Friday, (July 4th)
from 2:00 until 6:00 p.m. where the Daughters of Isabella will recite
the rosary at 5:00 p.m..
Visitation will resume on Saturday at St. Ignatius Catholic Church
from 9:00 a.m. until time of Mass at 10:00 a.m. with Fr. Robbie Deka
officiating.

Interment will take place in Mt. Calvary Catholic Cemetery.

Memorials may be given to the American heart Association or the
Rogers City Knights of Columbus.
